Lanternz: an annual October zine

Project Info

Lanternz is a collectible Halloween-inspired zine designed with a gritty, indie-punk aesthetic. It blends horror culture, costume trends, DIY activities, and seasonal features through bold editorial layouts and layered visuals. The project highlights a love for print, storytelling, and all things spooky—combining personal voice with subcultural design influence.

Design & Layout

The visual style combines layered textures, gritty overlays, and collage-inspired compositions. I used bold type pairings, grainy effects, and clashing layouts to reflect zine culture while keeping everything readable and intentionally chaotic. Each spread was designed with variation in mind to keep the reading experience playful and visually rich.

Print & Assembly

Lanternz was designed for physical print and digital viewing, with spreads optimized for both formats. I paid close attention to margins, bleeds, and type hierarchy to make sure each page maintained its punch whether viewed online or in-hand. The final print evokes that DIY, late-night-photocopier-zine vibe while staying clean enough for portfolio display.
